Born and raised in modern Iran, Fatima Devanbeigi grew up in a society where Islamic identity was strictly enforced by cultural tradition and state law. Spiritual Loneliness in Tehran
Throughout her adolescence in Iran, religious practice felt formal, distant, and fear-driven. Fatima longed for relational intimacy with the Creator, but found only rigid rituals that left her feeling empty. In an effort to find meaning, she experimented with Persian mystical traditions and fortune-telling, yet each step only compounded her confusion and inner desolation.
What she could not foresee was that God was already preparing her heart through a phenomenon sweeping across the Middle East: direct, transformative dreams of Jesus Christ.
The Dreams of Jesus: An Unmistakable Calling
While still living in Iran, Fatima began experiencing recurring dreams of an extraordinary figure dressed in radiant light. While Islam reveres Isa (Jesus) as a noble prophet, this person in her dreams was entirely different: radiating profound compassion, unconditional love, and divine majesty.
He spoke with gentle authority, inviting her to trust Him and follow Him into freedom. The dreams were so vivid and peace-filled that she would wake up weeping with joy, unable to shake the impression that the living Lord was calling her by name.
A New Beginning in America and the Awakening
Years later, Fatima immigrated to the United States. While the transition brought physical safety and cultural freedom, the deep spiritual void remained unaddressed. One Sunday morning, driven by a quiet nudge, she entered a Christian church for the first time.
As the congregation began singing praises and the pastor read from the Gospel, the heavy weight that had gripped her heart since childhood instantly dissolved, replaced by a wave of peace so overwhelming she fell to her knees. She recognized with absolute clarity that the Savior preached from the pulpit was the very person who had visited her in the night dreams in Tehran.
Embracing Christ: The Cost and Joy of Discipleship
Surrendering her life to Jesus, Fatima was baptized into the Christian faith. The decision came with painful cultural rejection and estrangement from relatives who considered her conversion an act of betrayal. Yet in the midst of loss, she found an unshakable family in the body of Christ and a renewed purpose.
