In the supplementary notebook of her diary entitled “My Preparation for Holy Communion,” Sister Faustina Kowalska recorded an astonishing treatise on the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, documenting physical visions of the Host bleeding on the altar.

Key Findings & Archival Record

  • The Text: Special supplementary section of the Diary (pages 397–437 of the manuscript), written in Kraków between 1937 and 1938.
  • The Visions: On multiple occasions during Mass, the consecrated Host disappeared from her sight, replaced by the living Infant Jesus or the scourged Christ looking with tenderness upon the congregation.
  • The Source of Life: Weakened by tuberculosis and unable to digest regular solid food, Faustina survived for days with the Holy Eucharist as her sole physical sustenance.
  • Sacramental Correlation: Connects directly with the forensic phenomena discovered in the living cardiac tissue of the Buenos Aires Eucharistic investigation and the Lanciano Eucharistic miracle.

1. Scene Lede: The Monstrance in Łagiewniki

During perpetual adoration in the convent chapel in Kraków, Sister Faustina knelt in the rear pews. As the priest elevated the monstrance, the gold hardware and glass seemed to dissolve:

“I saw Jesus as He is in the image, emerging from the Host and blessing the sisters and the whole world… O Living Host, my one and only strength, fountain of love and mercy, sustain me in my agony!” (Diary, 1692)

2. Archival Record: Communion as Nuclear Energy

Faustina viewed Holy Communion not as a ritual habit, but as receiving the living heart of God into human flesh. She spent thirty minutes in complete silence after receiving the sacrament, speaking to Jesus as a living guest dwelling inside her body.

She recorded: “All the good that is in me is due to Holy Communion. I owe everything to It. I feel that this holy fire has transformed me completely.” (Diary, 1392).

3. Spiritual Discernment: Preparing the Throne

How do you approach the altar on Sunday? In a rush, distracted by lunch plans and smartphones? Faustina teaches us to prepare our hearts as a humble palace, inviting the King of Glory to transform our weakness into strength.
